Welcome fellow log home enthusiasts! We’re the Powells: Ace and Michelle, your Kenomee Log Home contacts for Ontario and Quebec. For those of you who’ve traveled to our site before - and for those of you who are new comers, we’re pleased to say that the response to our home/model home has been great! Kenomee is a family owned business, based in rural Nova Scotia and founded in 1981 by Rudi Loeffler Sr. (Michelle's father). To be honest, the first log structure built by Mr. Loeffler was designed as a means to utilize a then endangered stand of forest - a stand that was threatened by the "spruce bud worm". Mr. Loeffler's idea was to produce the odd log cabin; little did he know that his log cabin idea, would in fact grow into a reputable, and competitive cedar log home company. Now 22 years later, Kenomee has built log homes from Newfoundland to British Columbia; has homes in the United States, Germany, Denmark, Iceland and Japan. In addition to recreational and permanent homes, Kenomee has built lodges, retreats, restaurants and shops internationally. Since 1981 Kenomee has made dreams come true for hundreds of its customers.

Only top quality NORTHERN WHITE CEDAR (from New Brunswick) is used in the construction of every Kenomee log home (etc.) Though many log home companies offer their customers pine -- it is a fact that Northern White Cedar is prized for log home production -- because of its characteristics, particularly durability and efficiency. It is superior to all woods in its resistance to the natural elements. It is naturally insect resistant, and features a closed cell structure that makes it highly resistant to rot and decay. It has the highest "R" value of any wood commonly used in log home construction. Northern White Cedar shrinks little in drying, is easy to handle, and is dimensionally stable; making it ideal for architectural innovations. Mr. Loeffler researched and developed a patent pending tongue and groove system which has been rated by the respected Log Hom Guide as one of the top three manufactured round logs available in North America. The system provides for a complete round cedar log that is: precision turned, tongue & grooved and saddle notched, (which allows for minimal settling) -- needs no chinking along the length of the log wall -- is efficient and economical to heat/cool -- has the look and feel of a real log home (so many companies offer only square of D-logs), and of course, has all the values of cedar.
